Teri's utilization of colored pencils begins with her love for Hawaiian flora as can be witnessed by the many varieties growing in her yard. It continues with her blending techniques which have resulted in beautiful and unique drawings that have quickly established her style and reputation. Although time consuming and tedious, it allows her to bring out the rich and vivid colors that nature has to offer. Her use of lightfast pencils (Faber Castell Watercolor and oil as well as Prismacolor) and 100% museum quality rag paper insures the longevity of her works.
Teri started drawing in 1979. She is mostly self-taught, but has attended the Academy of Arts and has taken private lessons on a continuing basis from Louis Pohl. During the early 1980's, with the encouragement of friends and relatives, she began to sell her originals in galleries on Oahu and Maui. She took a break from drawing to start her family and when her children reached school age, she began to draw again.
She is a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America and her works have been exhibited at various galleries throughout Hawaii and in private collections worldwide.
Hawaiian Airlines, Hawaii's Flagship Airline chose Teri's Cattleya Orchid #6 and Sea Turtles for their Hawaiian Paradise Postcard Collector Series and the Red Triple Torch Ginger as the artwork for their ticket jackets.
In addition, they chose five of Teri's images for their In-Flight menu and produced a 5 minute video of an interview with Teri that aired during their mainland flights.
Botanicals Hawaii is a wife and husband team of Teri Inouye, the talented artist whose media of choice is colored pencils, and her husband Roy Inouye, the business manager.

The prints and note cards are reproduced from her popular originals and printed in Hawaii. The originals, prints, and note cards can be found at these galleries and fine stores. Botanicals Hawaii has had a web site since March 1996 and has held their weekly contest since November 1996.
Being a small business (Teri, Roy, their children, dogs, cats, salt water
fish, and tropical garden), Botanicals Hawaii prides itself on its determination
and resourcefulness to provide quality products and service.
"My husband is an artist and he was overwhelmed by the quality of
the Bird of Paradise, and the beauty of this piece. It is truly a beautiful
work of art."

"Your cards are so beautiful and just looking at them puts a smile
on my face. I've only made a trip to Hawaii once in 1989 and if ever I get
the chance to go again, I'll be sure and stop by and personally thank you.
I will always treasure my memories of that wonderful trip and your cards
always bring back those moments. I hope you have a terrific summer and thank
you again for allowing your website visitors to enter your contests."
